Why I’m Blogging: As the sole in-house designer for my department, I don’t have a steady stream of creative influence to keep me inspired and moving at the office. This is my journey of infusing creativity into my life.
My Background: I earned a B.F.A. in graphic designer from Iowa State University’s College of Design with a minor in journalism and communication. I also earned an M.S. in journalism and communication from Iowa State University’s Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication.
In college, I did design internships for a Fortune 500 marketing agency in St. Louis, Missouri, and a pharmaceutical multimedia marketing firm in Ames, Iowa. During and after graduate school, I worked in fundraising as both a designer and writer. I did a stint in the world of online retail as a designer before joining state government in 2007 as a designer and backup public information officer.
I’m also a wife, mother of two, knitter, gardener, cook and whatever else I’m exploring at the moment.
